If you enjoy variety of music like I do, you will love this version of the popular Christmas carol, Joy to the World, by the Third Day. “This band is a Grammy award-winning Christian rock band formed in Marietta, Georgia during the 1990s. It was founded by lead singer Mac Powell, guitarist Mark Lee and former member Billy Wilkins. The band’s name is a reference to the biblical account of Jesus’ rising from the dead on the third day following his crucifixion. The band was inducted in the Georgia Music Hall of Fame on September 19, 2009. (Source: wikipedia)”
Joy to the world, the Lord is come
Let earth receive her King
Let every heart prepare Him room
And heaven and nature sing
And heaven and nature sing
And heaven and heaven and nature sing
Joy to the world, the Savior reigns Let saints, their songs employ While fields and floods, rocks, hills and plains Repeat the sounding joy Repeat the sounding joy Repeat, repeat the sounding joy
He rules the world with truth and grace And makes the nations prove The glories of His righteousness And wonders of His love And wonders of His love And wonders, wonders, of His love
Here’s a clip from Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) about the changing trends of churches in the United States of America. It looks on the different cultures such as Hispanics, Mexicans, Puerto Ricans, and other ethnicity.
“Researchers report a major trend in church demographics in the U.S. Young Hispanics — raised as Catholics — are joining Evangelical and Pentecostal congregations. It’s a growing movement that will have significant impact on the makeup and mission of churches in America.” – CBN.com
Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart
Psalm 37:4
How do we delight ourselves in the Lord?
Perhaps, this is one of the questions we want to ask about this verse. The late David Wilkerson, one of the well-known preachers that I really admired, has this to say about delighting ourselves in the Lord:
If you’ve fully resigned yourself into God’s hands, then you’re able to endure any and all hardships. Your Father’s desire is for you to be able to go about your daily business without fear or anxiety, totally trusting in his care. And your resignation to him has a very practical effect in your life. The more resigned you are to God’s care and keeping, the more indifferent you’ll be to the conditions around you.
I also found this Bible verses about delighting ourselves in Lord. “The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD, And He delights in his way.” (Psalm 37:23 NKJV) “I delight to do Your will, O my God, and Your law is within my heart” (Psalm 40:8 NKJV) Desires of Our Heart
My Bible annotation defines this phrase as: “When the righteous have desires that springs from the Lord, The Lord will surely fulfill those desires.” Mathew Henry Bible commentary has this to say: “He has not promised to gratify all the appetites of the body and the humours of the fancy, but to grant all the desires of the heart, all the cravings of the renewed sanctified soul. What is the desire of the heart of a good man? It is this, to know, and love, and live to God, to please him and to be pleased in him.”
What really happens when we die? This is a very controversial topic, at least in the modern world, and even to Christians. The Larry King Live Show invited various spiritual leaders from many faiths including Evangelical Pastor John McArthur of Grace Community Church in Southern California, a Catholic priest, a rabbi, a muslim scholar, a spirituality teacher, and a prominent Atheist leader.
After watching these two part series, I admire the straightforward and strong answers of John MacArthur. Defending Christianity in a debate is huge task. But with a great understanding and mastery of Biblical principles, we do know how to approach it.
