Our God is Greater, Our God is Healer!

Listening to this song Our God by Chris Tomlin while doing this blog entry created me an atmosphere of peace, stirred faith, and inspired spirit. In life, we are easily hooked up with our daily routines and oftentimes, our quiet time with the Lord is becoming less and less. We don’t spend much time praying. We don’t spend time singing a song of praise or worship. We don’t spend time listening to what God has to say by reading His Word or listening to His still small voice. Oh, how easy easy it is to forget or  to procrastinate! But thanks be to God, His mercies never end. They are new every morning.

Chris Tomlin put yet another piece of music that really stirred my Spirit. A huge statement and declaration about our Heavenly Father. As I try to follow and sing every lyrics, the more I feel and believe about the message of this song. You might one to try and experience it for yourself. It’s really true.
“If God is for us, who can be against us?”  God is for us not against us. God is on our side. God is not our enemy. No power on earth or heaven can separate us from God’s love. Not our sin, not any authority, not any spiritual force. God’s love is unshakable and can always be relied upon. (cf Romans 8:38-39).
Today, we declare:

“Our God is greater, our God is stronger,
God you are higher than any other.
Our God is Healer, Awesome in Power, Our God! Our God!
Our God is greater, our God is stronger,

God you are higher than any other.
Our God is Healer, Awesome in Power, Our God! Our God!”

What Does Faith Actually Do?

faith and hope

The Faith: What Christians Believe, Why They Believe It, and Why It MattersI subscribe to Colin Smith‘s weekly Lifekeys devotionals.  I just thought of sharing this one because I believe that we all need to sharpen our thoughts on the subject of Faith. One of favourite verses is Hebrews 11:6 that says “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” This verse has really provided me a clear understanding that we can’t take away Faith when we talk about our relationship with God. Colin Smith, in this article explains Faith.

“For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from observing the law.” – Romans 3:28

Evangelicals have always stressed the wonderful truth that we are justified by faith. We have rightly placed great emphasis on justification by faith and not by works. But we have not always had a good grasp on what faith actually is.

Hebrews 11 gives us a long list of the heroes of faith, men and women who are models or examples to us of what authentic faith looks like. Study this chapter and you will see that faith is always more than bare belief. Faith is active. It does things…

Faith Understands
“By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command.” Hebrews 11:3

The Psalmist says, “I have more insight than all my teachers for I meditate on your statutes” (Psalm 119:99). The Holy Spirit gives wisdom that cannot be gained by the intellect alone. It is possible to have the most brilliant mind, and yet to live like a fool.

Faith Offers
“By faith Abel offered God a better sacrifice than Cain did.” (11:4)
Faith will lead you to great sacrifices-denying yourself and costly commitment.

Faith Builds
“By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family.” (11:7)
Faith initiates great projects that will be the means of advancing God’s redeeming purpose in the world.

Faith Obeys
“By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going.” (11:8)
Faith will lead you to embark on great ventures into the unknown.

Faith Longs
“They were longing for a better country–a heavenly one.” (11:16)
Faith is a forward-looking grace. It will keep you fixed on heaven.

Faith Blesses
“By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau in regard to their future.” (11:20)
What a blessing to have a father who is a man of faith, a mother who is a woman of faith. Faith leaves a legacy, bringing blessing to your children and all God places around you.

Faith Worships
“By faith Jacob, when he was dying, blessed each of Joseph’s sons, and worshiped as he leaned on the top of his staff.” (11:21)
Faith will lead you to worship. Here is this old man at the end of life. He is dying, but he looks up to God and he worships.

Why does faith do all these things?

Faith is like a living tree bursting with fruit! Where does all this life and energy come from? Why does faith understand, offer, build, obey, long, bless and worship? Faith unites us to Jesus Christ. Faith is the bond by which we become His, and faith is the way in which Christ, and all that is His, becomes ours.

Be Joyful Always!

Be joyful always and pray continually

“Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

“When Jesus said, “You must be born again” (John 3), He didn’t say it to a prostitute-it was Nicodemus, a respected rabbi. Jesus said to this man: “You need your whole life to be recreated from the inside.” The new birth is a sovereign work of the Holy Spirit. It happens when He moves in a person’s life. When you see that, you’ll want to pray.

We’re looking for more than behavior modification, we’re looking for new life from above that makes us the kind of people who are joyful always, pray continually and who give thanks in all circumstances. This only happens through divine power. You have the privilege of knowing the One who holds that power, and He invites you to talk to Him. ”

Argentina : First Country in Latin America to Legally Recognise Gay Marriage

City of Buenos Aires, Argentina
Gay couples celebrates victory in Argentina. They are now given same rights enjoyed by their heterosexual counterparts including adopting children after the country legalised same-sex marriage last Thursday, 15 July 2010.
The unprecedented legislation passed despite intense opposition by the Roman Catholic Church.  Argentina is known to be predominantly Catholic nation. The vote is  33 to 27  with three abstentions. With this, Argentina became the first country in Latin America to legally recognise gay marriage. While same-sex civil unions are recognised in Buenos Aires, parts of Mexico and Brazil and in Uruguay, no other Latin American country prior to Argentina had allowed gay and lesbian couples to marry.
Argentina now joins nine other countries in the world where same-sex marriage is legal, including Belgium, Canada, Iceland, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, and Sweden. In the United States, gay marriage is legal in five states – Connecticut, Iowa, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont – and federal district Washington DC. (Click on the links for headlines stories)

Christianity is not a doctrine, not truth as truth, but the knowledge of a Person; it is knowing the Lord Jesus. You cannot be educated into being a Christian. —T. Austin-Sparks

A funny church sign says: ” There are some questions that can’t be answered by Google!” With enough curiousity, I typed in “Jesus” in Google Search and bingo! There are about 175,000,000 results in 0.15 seconds! The top 5 results is from Wikipedia, a funny titled website called “Jesus Dress Up“,  a question-captioned site called “Who is Jesus-Really?,” Youtube videos, and The Jesus Film Project.
With the advance technology that we are in nowadays, we process a lot of information. Good or bad. True or not true. Relevant or irrelevant. But who is Jesus really? With 175 millions hits in Google, where a lot us rely for quick information, Jesus is undeniably one of the most popular Person throughout our history. In fact He is very controversial. A lot of people likes to talk about God or “god” but some seems to shy away or avoid conversations about Jesus.  In fact a funny anecdote depicts that even people who are religious fails to identify Jesus.

A Bektashi dervish apporached a certain bishop and said: ‘I have heard of a young man who harangues crowds, advocating their breaking the law, claims supernatural connections, performs “miracles” and contradicts himself….” ‘Enough!’ said the bishop. ‘he shall be tried, charged with blasphemy and upsetting public. If he does not recant, he may be put to death as a heretic and corrupter. Just tell me his name, and I shall arrange the rest!’
‘I wish you could realize how impressed I am by your competence,’ said the Bektashi. ‘His name is Jesus.’(1)

Funny but it’s true. Isn’t it?  Religious people tends to know more about their traditions, customs, rituals, and creeds but not the God, the Saviour, and the Lord Jesus Christ. More so with non-believers, agnostics, and atheiests who bombard Jesus with mockery and lies.
Jesus came from Heaven to Earth not to establish a religion but a relationship.   The Gospel of John in Chapter 14 verses 1-6 we read: “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.  In My Father’s house are many mansions;[a] if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.[b]  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. 4 And where I go you know, and the way you know.”

Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?”

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
To me, this is profound. Jesus is the way, Jesus is the truth, and Jesus is the life.
