Prayer for the New Year

On January 2, 2014

Lord Jesus, let your will be done in our lives this 2014. Give us wisdom to know your will.

New year. New hopes. New expectations.
We say goodbye to 2013 and putting to rest those events in our lives that was not so good.
It’s time to write a new chapter in our lives. It’s a time of refreshing with God on our side.
We pray in Jesus’ name for fresh anointing; for fresh revelations; and for fresh wisdom as we face 2014.

Thank you Jesus for the plans you have for us. Thank You that you have determined our steps. Thank you that you are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.
We pray for hunger and thirst, an appetite for your Word, that your wisdom will flow in us.
We pray for salvation for our families, friends, workmates, and enemies that your unending love and amazing grace will embrace them.
In Jesus Mighty Name we pray,
AMEN.

Our Father and our God, as we stand at the beginning of this new year we confess our need of Your presence and Your guidance as we face the future.

We each have our hopes and expectations for the year that is ahead of us—but You alone know what it holds for us, and only You can give us the strength and the wisdom we will need to meet its challenges. So help us to humbly put our hands into Your hand, and to trust You and to seek Your will for our lives during this coming year.

In the midst of life’s uncertainties in the days ahead, assure us of the certainty of Your unchanging love.

In the midst of life’s inevitable disappointments and heartaches, help us to turn to You for the stability and comfort we will need.

In the midst of life’s temptations and the pull of our stubborn self-will, help us not to lose our way but to have the courage to do what is right in Your sight, regardless of the cost.

And in the midst of our daily preoccupations and pursuits, open our eyes to the sorrows and injustices of our hurting world, and help us to respond with compassion and sacrifice to those who are friendless and in need. May our constant prayer be that of the ancient Psalmist: “Teach me, O Lord, to follow your decrees; then I will keep them to the end” (Psalm 119:33).

We pray for our nation and its leaders during these difficult times, and for all those who are seeking to bring peace and justice to our dangerous and troubled world. We pray especially for Your protection on all those who serve in our armed forces, and we thank You for their commitment to defend our freedoms, even at the cost of their own lives. Be with their families also, and assure them of Your love and concern for them.

Bring our divided nation together, and give us a greater vision of what You would have us to be. Your Word reminds us that “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord” (Psalm 33:12).

As we look back over this past year we thank You for Your goodness to us—far beyond what we have deserved. May we never presume on Your past goodness or forget all Your mercies to us, but may they instead lead us to repentance, and to a new commitment to make You the foundation and center of our lives this year.

And so, our Father, we thank You for the promise and hope of this new year, and we look forward to it with expectancy and faith. This I ask in the name of our Lord and Savior, who by His death and resurrection has given us hope both for this world and the world to come.

Jotta A sings Still, a lovely worship song popularized by Hillsong. A gifted child, Jotta A, is simply amazing. He has unadulterated voice, no voice overs, no lip-sync. He has performed Michael W. Smith’s “Agnus Dei” and the popular gospel song “Amazing Grace My Chains are Gone.” Jotta A won the hearts of millions of people around the world, both Christians and Non-Christians. At his young age, he has been singing to the Lord. He put a new twist into christian music genre when he joined a talent show on television. Unlike many reality singing contest out there, Jotta A chose to sing Christian Music! What a fantastic platform for this youngster to glorify his Lord Jesus Christ. We need more of young men like him who are not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ.

Australia X Factor 2013 Winner Dami Im Sings Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone). Unknown to most Australia’s X-factor fans, Dami Im is a Christian singer. She sang this beautiful song Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone) that has made popular by Christian Worship leaders like Chris Tomlin. Dami Im is a South Korean-born Australian singer, best known as the winner of the fifth series of The X Factor Australia in 2013. She subsequently signed with Sony Music Australia and released her winner’s single “Alive“, which debuted at number one on the ARIA Singles Chart. Im’s self-titled album, Dami Im, was released in November 2013 and debuted at number one the ARIA Albums Chart. She became the first X Factor Australia contestant in the history of the ARIA Charts to follow up a number one single with a number one album.

What is the True Meaning of Christmas

The once youthful Reverend Billy Graham preached this message called “The True Meaning of Christmas” in 1965. Well, most of us were not born yet back then but this message is simply timeless. It’s still a very relevant, very appropriate, and very challenging message especially for the youth of today. As we have read on the news today, Reverend Billy Graham is confined in the hospital and believers around the world are praying for Billy Graham to regain strength and good health. This 1965 Message is surely one of his legacies. He was 34 years old when he preached this message. It’s a passionate message about the true meaning of Christmas.

Part of his message is a reminder for believers to stand against harmful behaviors like drunkenness at office parties, focusing on presents or Santa Claus, etc. He teaches on three barricades that the enemy has put up to keep us from experiencing a Christ-centered Christmas.

William Franklin “Billy” Graham, Jr. (born November 7, 1918) is an American evangelical Christian evangelist, ordained as a Southern Baptist minister, who rose to celebrity status in 1949 reaching a core constituency of white, middle-class, moderately conservative Protestants.^[2] He held large indoor and outdoor rallies; sermons were broadcast on radio and television, some still being re-broadcast today.^[3]

Graham was a spiritual adviser to several Presidents; he was particularly close to Dwight D. Eisenhower and Richard Nixon.^[4] During the civil rights movement, he began to support integrated seating for his revivals and crusades; in 1957 he invited Martin Luther King, Jr. to preach jointly at a revival in New York City. Graham bailed King out of jail in the 1960s when he was arrested in demonstrations.

Graham operates a variety of media and publishing outlets.^[5] According to his staff, more than 3.2 million people have responded to the invitation at Billy Graham Crusades to “accept Jesus Christ as their personal savior”. As of 2008, Graham’s estimated lifetime audience, including radio and television broadcasts, topped 2.2 billion.^[5]

Graham has repeatedly been on Gallup’s list of most admired men and women. He has appeared on the list 55 times since 1955 (including 49 consecutive years), more than any other individual in the world.^[6] Grant Wacker reports:

“By the middle 1960s, he had become the ‘Great Legitimator.’ …His presence conferred sanctity on events, authority on presidents, acceptability on wars, desirability on decency, [and] shame on indecency….By the middle 1970s, many deemed him ‘America’s pastor.'”^[2]

The Birth of Christ is the central story every time we celebrate Christmas. Christians around the world is expected to focus on the Birth of Christ and not delve into the overly commercialized celebration of Christmas festivities. The world has changed and people are shifting focus on Santa, presents, parties, drinking sprees, and holidays. Some find it so stressful and burdensome. We should go back to the basics. Christmas is the best time of the year to thank God for the greatest gift ever, His one and only Son, our Lord Jeseus Christ.

“Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit. Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not wanting to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly. But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is 7conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”

So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying: “Behold, 9the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.”

Then Joseph, being aroused from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord commanded him and took to him his wife, and 1did not know her till she had brought forth her firstborn Son. And he called His name Jesus.” – Matthew 1:18-25 NKJV
