Manny Pacquiao Shares His Testimony How He Became a Follower of Jesus Christ

Trinity Broadcasting Network’s Matt Crouch interviews Manny Pacquiao prior to Manny’s big fight with Floyd Mayweather. Manny shares his faith and the emptiness he felt in his life before he found Jesus Christ.

As a former Roman Catholic, he said: “I went to church on Sunday, but from Monday to Saturday, I was in the bar drinking.I was gambling … I committed adultery. I didn’t care.” However, Manny ultimately became a born-again Christian. He said in other interviews: “We’re not talking about religion here, but a relationship with God. Christ said unless we are born again we cannot enter the kingdom of God. Jesus Christ said: ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’ There is no other way. The only way is through Jesus.”

Manny Pacquiao Testimony

“Being a Christian means accepting Christ as your savior, your God. That’s why you are called a ‘Christian. ‘ If you remove Christ, there’s only ‘ian’ and that means ‘I am nothing.” – Manny Pacquiao

“I’m happy because I found the right way, salvation, born again. We are required to be born again, all of us. Christ said unless we are born again we cannot enter the kingdom of God. So it’s very important to me. Jesus Christ said: ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’ There is no other way. The only way is through Jesus.”

He was named “Fighter of the Decade” for the 2000s (decade) by the Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA), World Boxing Council (WBC) and World Boxing Organization (WBO). He is also a three-time The Ring and BWAA “Fighter of the Year,” winning the award in 2006, 2008, and 2009, and the Best Fighter ESPY Award in 2009 and 2011. (Source: Wikipedia)

“All the blessings that I enjoyed, I shared it with the poor. I trained my family to be generous to the poor. Deep in my heart, since the beginning of my fortune, I have the heart to share my blessings with the poor. I have lived miserably where I experienced sleeping in the street and had only water to drink because there is no food to eat. And that is what inspires me to give and share.”Manny Pacquiao (Read Story)

Nova, just pray and ask Jesus to come into your life, accept that he died for you. Believe that he arose from the dead and is now in heaven.

He’s there, just be willing to sacrifice and believe.

  4. Manny Pacquaio,
So amazing for a Man who fought in one of the most Brutal Sports of ALL TIME. MEN STILL DIE. Now he is a Servant Of Jesus & His People. I he ever called us to come to minister in the Prisons. We would be honored.

I too was raised up as a Roman Catholic. Jesus changed me, I would go to confession and confess my sins to the priest who gave me penance, and I still did wrong but one day I heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ, was baptized in Jesus Name, Acts 2:38, filled with the Holy Ghost, running for my life

  6. Jennifer Courtemanche

From Catholic to “born-again Christian” implies that Catholics aren’t Christians, and this is false. God had already “saved” him and placed an indelible mark on him through baptism. He was already a Christian.

The problem is being a catholic, Baptist, or Methodist, will not save you from eternal damnation. only a personal relationship with Jesus Christ who died to everyone. Ephesians 2:8-9. Romans 3:23, John 14:6.

      • FORMER ROMAN CATHOLIC! NOT ASHAMED FOR MY SALVATION! I CONFESS! ‘I SING AT THE FEET OF JESUS! HOLY! HOLY! HOLY! LORD GOD OF HOST HEAVEN & EARTH IS FULL OF YOUR GLORY! HOSSANA IS IN THE HIGHEST! MEANS SALVATION IN THE HIGHEST! IS IT NOT? YUP! PERSONAL=RELATIONSHIP WITHIN HIM! https://www.facebook.com/sophie.fernandes.50

Baptism will not save a person from hell, and so is religion. It’s only through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a born again experience in the Holy Spirit. John Chapter 3. Ephesians 2:8-9, John 14:6

    • hi manny, i’ve been working all my life as an ofw..and so much trials encountered. i am very grateful to God’s amazing grace that somehow i manage to overcome such trials in my life. indeed, God is merciful and He don’t want us to suffer beyond our capacity. currently, i am still working abroad and setting something for myself when i retired.. only i missed those days that i should be spending my life with my kids. very lonely because i am a single father and hoping someday that i could return to my place and spend the remaining of my life with my 2 daughters.. please pray for me too that my life will be fine.. i have nothing to be proud of except that as a father i have survive them til they finished their college. i hope that you will find this as an inspirations too that somehow it could be a witness to the world that our God cares for us. thank you and God bless us all.

      • Linlan

        Hi EDUARDO.
I find your story equally inspiring as Manny. Before our God we are equally precious whether we are a celebrity or ordinary OFW. In fact, God’s Grace and Mercy is sweeter for those who go through sufferings in life. The bible and Church History is filled with stories of pain and suffering and the Glory of the Cross is always exalted. God’s Grace is exalted because of the suffering of Christ at the cross, therefore Christians will be exalted someday because of their suffering in Christ. So search more of Christ in the scripture and continue to bend your knees in prayer. Godbless.

    • The Creator didnt create religion man did. He created
Nations of people. And when He speaks He only speaks to HIS people not the entire world.

Belonging to church, catholic or other, does not make you a Christian. Baptism does not make you a Christian. Only a relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and saviour makes you a child of God. Christian is just a label. I was raised catholic and even studied to be an alter boy. But never belonged to God. I gave my life Jesus later in life. Got spirit filled and my whole outlook on life changed from that point. A relationship means more than going to church. We are the church, not a building nor a sect. A child of God we learn to hear from God and obey his commandments. We are no longer our own. Sprinkling in not baptism. Baptism is to be fully submerged in His death and raised to life in Him. Then our relationship starts. You can have direct communication with your God after you give your self to Him by accepting the work of redemption bought for you by Jesus. Ask Jesus to come into your life and repent for your sin life bought by Adam. We must be born again. These are the words of Jesus not mine.

Praise the Lord. God is bigger than any mountains and bigger than anything that I can and can’t see. If something is lost everything is lost but something is profit everything is profit because God has kept him for something purposefully from muddy to prominent from topmost fighter to topmost God’s witness for his sake. Nothing can change but God can change his life for his own sake. Because God is love.

    • Praise God!
Am so happy that GOD used Senator Manny Pacquaio for evangelism.Even though before I know God will use him
      for the Glory of GOD!
Hes a God fearing man, and no wonder God gave him some special strength to be known worlwide.I pray that He will always remain as a servant of God so that many people will come to know Christ as their Lord and Savior.
His influence has made many politicians to get to know Christ and to serve with dignity and honor.
May the Lord be with you always and bless your leadership and family.

  11. KP Nesen (facebook)

I am born as a Hindu and I believe in Jesus Christ. I dont have to convert my religion in order to accept Jesus Christ.
I am not a spiritual person and definitely not free from sins but I do communicate with God most of the time even when I am driving. I feel grateful for every moment simply because I m physically okay n have a better life than so many other people in the world. All I ask God is to use me or give me an opportunity to help the helpless ones including animals.
Nothing can buy the satisfaction when God uses me as an instrument or middle person to reach out to the helplesss n deserving ones.
Instead of just praying to God, all of us should work to improve in our level of COMPASSION & EMPATHY towards others. God bless all. Amen.

    • Amos

I am so sorry sir, you still have not met Jesus! Having an encounter wt Jesus is more than Christianity but you still must follow that path! Because it id only Christianity that teaches one the way to follow christ!

    • LaLa and Nana ahhhh....

God is not santa clause that gives you good things in life. Being a true Christian is more than good works-If you really are a christian you will find it alot harder and even I tried to give up multipletimes but he nevergave up on me. It’s not a walk in a park it’s more than compassion and empathy it’s a relationship.

Everyone can do a good deed even those who don’t really know God.

  12. Eyanji Akpet

KP Nesen, the reason Jesus Christ came as a human, suffered, died and resurrected is for your justification and freedom from sin. This is what believing in Jesus Christ entails.
This faith in Christ or identification with his suffering, burial and resurrection is what brings the believer salvation. Salvation is simply your freedom from sin and its consequences and reconciliation with God. It guarantees you eternal life and makes you a son of God, just like Jesus Christ.
You need to have faith in Christ, receive His Spirit before you can have access to God. You may have been “communicating” with demons, not God.
    You need Jesus Christ!

Congratulations Manny. Enjoy your heritage in Christ!

Don’t be judgemental, Manny just support the aim of our President. Our president is not a lunatic person. He is just vocal to all wrong doings. His aim is to reform the system of our previous governance team.
Which is full of corruption and fame.

  13. Aliganyira stephen

For sure it’s the relationship with Jesus that makes us called the chosen children of God,intact the Bible calls us the chosen people of God but not all are chosen but only those who are in relationship with Jesus are are called chosen.

  14. roel

hypocrisy at its finest… uve said it urself,
God can make anything out of nothing… uve even set urself as an example… by initiating the revival of death penalty you are denying people on death row to experience the grace you are blessed with…

    • LaLa and Nana ahhhh....

you’ve read the old testament, right?

Being in the presence of death makes you contemplate your actions and the meaning of your life. Therefore the possibility of leading someone to repentance or some closure- the system is not a beast that kills you instantly but there are some proccedures and protocols that needs to be followed before it.

I know it looks scary ,but they are given a lifetime of chances repeating it knowing punishment is their own foolishness.

      Pride goes before destruction…

  15. Nikka Toledo

When you say, You owe Everything to God, you should return Everything to God. Can you do that?

  16. Stephen

Your conversion was not because you were a Roman Catholic or not;it was simply because you had matured and made up your mind to change.

There are millions upon millions of good Roman Catholics whose lives are daily transformed by the power of the Word of God they hear and consume in the Holy Eucharist.

Saying that your life changed after your encounter in the Catholic Church is ‘uncharitable’ and ‘unchristian’ as it would imply that the Catholic Church breeds sinners.

Don’t forget too that you made your many successes in your profession while you were a Catholic.

    God bless you greatly.

    • Stormy Tobias

Being generous to the poor and at the same rejecting the celebration of the Holy Eucharist and rejecting to receive the Body, Blood, soul and divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ defeats the purpose. Attending the Sunday Holy Mass/Celebration of the Holy Eucharist and receiving the Body, Blood, soul and divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ when not in the state of Grace is not a good practice of being a good Catholic. Proclaiming that our Lord Jesus Christ is the way, the truth and life and no one comes to the Father except through Him and at the same rejecting the Body, Blood, soul and divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ, the celebration of the Holy Eucharist do not make sense and cannot and can never be reconciled with the Sacred Scripture/Holy Bible. Some body must have taken advantage of your vulnerability and weakness at that time and had lead you to go astray from the Fulness of Truth of our Lord Jesus Christ and His Church, the one Holy Catholic and apostolic Church. Try and look at the life of Saint Teresa of Calcutta, the former Mother Teresa of Calcutta. She lived with, helped and served the poor but has never given up the celebration of the Holy Eucharist and receiving the Body, Blood, soul and divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ. Come home because by sharing your vast wealth to the poor and continue to humble yourself and be on the state of Grace when participating in the Celebration of the Holy Eucharist and receiving the Body, Blood, soul and divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ that you too can be a Saint some day like Saint Teresa of Calcutta. That is what Jesus meant to be born from above. The good works of generosity to yourself and to the poor that your are doing right now is what Nicodemus meant of being born again from down below, the earthly deeds. May the Holy Spirit pour down upon you and guide you to the Fulness of Truth of our Lord Jesus Christ and His Church, the one Holy Catholic and apostolic Church. Our Lord Jesus Christ and His Mother the Blessed Mother the Holy Mother of God are very patiently waiting for you to come home.

As Christian Catholic, means universal Church,
        We do as well EUCHARIST…
WE PARTAKE the HOLY BLOOD AND BODY OF JESUS in Spirit and in truth…

        Matthew 28:19
Go and make disciples of all nations…

Salvation is through Christ alone, not through any religion or denomination. If you accept His gift of salvation and obey His Word – not any works based “church” – you are saved. WE are the Church, not some building or religious institution. May your eyes be opened to the Truth.

      • You are religious and lost! Get out from her. The LORD IS NOT religion. He is above all this. Following you is off track, but following the LORD AND THE GUIDANCE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT IS all we will ever need. Blessings Manny. You are on the right track I will say! Stormy, you need to be born again to see the light. Stop being a pharisees and being child of satan trying to discourage one from the truth. I forgive you in Christ Jesus loving name. “YESHUA HAMASCHIACH.”

        • Benjamin says, keep it up Manny, you’re on the right track. Leave the Saducees and the pharisees in their religion. Jesus Christ is real and the guidance of the Holy Spirit is all we ever need. Those in the spirit knows things of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is b the only one who will guide you to the truth. No one else! Manny, your salvation is important and it’s individual. It is individually that we will kneel and confess before the Judge, JESUS CHRIST.PRAISE HIS HOLY NAME! AMEN!

Our Lord Jesus Christ and His Mother the Blessed Mother the Holy Mother of God are very patiently waiting for him and his family to come home to the Fulness of Truth of our Lord Jesus Christ and His Church, the one holy Catholic and apostolic Church.

You liked it better when Manny was cheating on his wife and bowing down to statues.
Rome has perverted the Christian faith.
Roman Catholicism is a mixture of ancient Babylon religion and Christianity.
Mary is a sinner saved by God’s grace.
Peter refused to allow Cornelius to bow to him, yet Francis–who claims to be Peter’s successor–has men bow to him often.

    • Mark Richardson

Did you even listen to Manny’s words and testimony?? He says that he was a devoted Catholic, but he had no power or victory over sin–and no change of heart, to put his faith in action, and to serve and to help others. As a Catholic, he was still going out to bars and drinking and womanizing, cheating on his wife. But when he started reading the Bible and praying–and when he became “born again”in the Spirit of God–that’s when his life changed. Like Manny said, it is not about “religion” or being Catholic; not about even going to Church; it’s about a having a true relationship with Christ, and a deeper understanding and knowing of who Christ is and what he can do to change not only Manny, but the entire world. “If you believe God, you obey” and live for Him; no longer do you live just for yourself.

  19. jim allen

Pacman started well…but he is doing bad things for the past few years. 🙁
I think Pacman really was born again. He really was transformed by the Lord Jesus.
But he has been corrupted by a great impurity in the Church: Celebrity worship.
Since his conversion, he has judged a beauty contest in which he had to decide which girl looked hottest in a swimsuit.
He praises the evil lunatic mass-murdering God-hating Bible-mocking president of the Philippines.
He is guilty of tax evasion.
And he has continued to badly neglect his Constitutional duties as an elected official.
He keeps promising to stop punching men for money, and he keeps breaking his promises.

    • Paulin

Don’t judge! We fall short of the glory! Keep doing good Pacman. And like us all get up when u fall praise God!

I have always liked Manny since i was a young boy and he inspired me to love boxing so much. i love his style of game while in the ring and surprisingly i pray for him every time he has a forth coming fight. I was very diverstated when he got knocked-down with a lucky punch by the Mexican Juan Manuel Márquez 3 but i got delighted that he was not hurt that much that he stood again and got victories with Brandon Rios, Timothy Bradley, Chris Algieri etc thereafter. i have atleast watched all his profession fights since 1995 with Edmund Enting Ignacio. I love his Golden big heart to the philipine community and the world as a whole constructing homes for homeless countrymen and women, hospitals, a purse to poor supporting NGOs etc, his life outside the ring too, his humbleness, boxing Skills but most importantly his love for God all move me coz i also love my God so much and a proud born again African/East Africa-Ugandan.I feel like i love Manny more than his family and i am one of his greatest and active fun and followers and did much influence to mek all my friends love and follow Manny. Long live my Manny and may u stay blessed in all spheres of your life and your lovely family in the Mighty name of Jesus Christ
