About Randy Travis

Randy Travis, was born Randy Traywick, May 4, 1959, in Marshville, North Carolina. Randy began playing guitar at the age of eight, and within two years, he and his brother Ricky formed a duo called the Traywick Brothers. He was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry at the age of 28 and was the first country artist ever to have a debut album sell over one million copies. He was a multiple winner at the Academy of Country Music Awards, the Country Music Association Awards, the Grammy Awards, the American Music Awards, and the Dove Awards. Travis established his trademark style on his first three albums (1986’s Storms of Life, 1987’s Always and Forever, and 1988’s Old 8×10), which were among his most popular and celebrated. In the 2000s, many of his best albums were gospel-oriented efforts such as 2002’s Rise and Shine and 2003’s Worship and Faith, where his voice meshed well with classic hymns and songs of praise.

In the Book of Acts we read that about midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everybody’s chains came loose. The jailer woke up, and when he saw the prison doors open, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself because he thought the prisoners had escaped. But Paul shouted, “Don’t harm yourself!
