Nothing But The Blood of Jesus is a traditional American hymn about the blood atonement and propitiation for sin by the death of Jesus as explained in Hebrews 9. The song was composed by Robert Lowry, a hymn writer who was a Baptist minister and professor at Bucknell University.

Merle Haggard is a popular icon of Country Music. He is well known as “The Poet of the Common Man.” He is widely considered as one of the most successful singer-songwriters in the history of country music. During a career that lasted from the 1960s until his death in 2016, he recorded more than 70 albums and had more than 30 No. 1 singles. Merle Haggard was born in Oildale, California, during the Great Depression. He was inducted into Country Music Hall of Fame in 1994. He was an inmate at San Quentin from 1958 to 1960 where Merle Haggard saw Johnny Cash play at the prison on January 1, 1959. It changed his life. Haggard was later granted a pardon by Ronald Reagan when the former actor was Governor of California.
