‘We’ve kind of had this Celtic feel with a couple of songs in the past like ‘Praise You with the Dance’ and ‘Spirit Wind’ so it’s always been a little part of us and we just thought with this big, fun worship song, that we’d just make it a big camp song. It’s kind of natural, but the idea of ‘Thrive’ came out of our student ministry. For years I’ve been using the idea of Psalm One in showing them what a believer looks like… If you’re not getting into the word for God to define Himself to you, you will define God with what makes sense to you and what makes sense to us is, ‘I better do good or I’m in big trouble’ and ‘He’s going to stick with me for so long, but I’m going to blow it.’ That’s not the picture that the Bible has. God didn’t put you here just so you could survive through hard times. He put you here to thrive, to dig in and to reach out and this record is an effort to draw a picture of what a believer, a follower of Jesus, would look like if they dug into their roots and understood God and themselves more.” ~ Mark Hall

From Gangs to Soldier for Christ

Tommy Scott shares about his life of crime, drugs, gangs, and destruction. He lived a life full of hatred and anger. He ended up in seventeen different facilities different jails prisons juvenile facilities and camps and things as a result of his environment and whole lifestyle. His upbringing is in a community where about 2,500 gangs Los Angeles County where most of it is so much gang black-on-black crime gang wars. People dying all around him and as a young kids saw so much death, so much hatred for each other, and people outside of their community hated everybody!

But this is not the end of the Tommy’s story. This is just a beginning. He came to a turning point of his life that really changed his life starting from just passing by a Church he wanted to rob. Watch his testimony.

I don’t Want God Telling Me What to Do

As a Christian, what do you do when you randomly meet a person who does not believe in God? One who argues that he does not want to be told by God what to do? One who believes in choice?

This is a very interesting conversation between Evangelist Ray Comfort and Sergio as Ray shares the Gospel with Sergio down in Huntington Beach, California.

I really like conversations like this as we are called by God to share the Gospel of Christ. Romans 1:16 says “For I am not ashamed of the gospel ^[a]of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes.”
