Watch this soulful rendition of the classic hymn “It Is Well With My Soul” by well acclaimed gospel singer, Wintley Phipps. This hymn was penned by hymnist Horatio Spafford and composed by Philip Bliss and has been an anthem of many churches around the world. Wintley Phipps, an internationally known baritone singer, was born in Trinidad, West Indies, and grew up in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. In those formative years he was surrounded by music of the church. Following graduation from Kingsway College, a Seventh-day Adventist high school near Toronto, Ontario, he attended Oakwood College, now University, in the 1970s, where he studied music theory and began writing gospel music. After graduating in 1976 with a degree in theology, he continued his education by attending Andrews University, where he completed an M.Div. in 1979. Oakwood University awarded him its first honorary doctorate in 2010.  Since graduating from AU, Phipps has served simultaneously as a minister, acclaimed singer and writer of religious music, and innovator in programs that offer hope to children and youth. With his distinctive resonant baritone voice, he has witnessed through music in a way that has earned him international recognition. He earned two Emmy nominations in 1988 and 1989 for his writing, has given numberless concerts, and sung at prayer breakfasts and other special occasions for Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, George H. W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama and at the Vatican, Billy Graham Crusades, and Robert Schuller’s Hour of Power telecast. (Credits Wintley Phipps Bio)

About Lynda Randle

Lynda Randle is a well known Gaither Homecoming Artist since she was recruited by Bill Gaither in 1998. She also markets a number of singing videos featuring her mellow alto voice in gospel music, particularly southern gospel. She also heads Lynda Randle Ministries in Kansas City, Missouri. Her arrangement of “God On The Mountain” is the most popular video on the Gaither Music TV YouTube Channel with over 58 million views. Garnering a Dove Award for her 2004 recording A Tribute To Mahalia Jackson, Randle has performed at a Billy Graham Crusade; was among the official entertainers for the 98th National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony in 2020; and also made her Grand Ole Opry debut.

The Gaither Vocal Band is an American southern gospel vocal group, named after its founder and leader Bill Gaither. On March 1, 2017, it was announced that the Gaither Vocal Band lineup consisted of Reggie Smith, Wes Hampton, Adam Crabb, Todd Suttles, and Bill Gaither. Although the group started out recording contemporary Christian music in the 1980s, it became known for southern gospel after the popularity of the Gaither Homecoming videos.

The lineup of the band changes often, with artists leaving to work on solo careers, and new and old ones coming to replace them. Besides Bill Gaither, singers with the longest tenure in the band include Guy Penrod (1995–2008), Mark Lowry (1988–2002, 2009–13), Michael English (1985–94, 2009–13), David Phelps (1997–2005, 2009–17) and Wes Hampton (2005–present).
