Who God is? 10 Bible Verses Describing Who God is

Who God is? Have you ever had this question before in your life? Here are ten selected scriptures pointing out who God is. It’s not exhaustive nor is limiting. Personally, I believe God is immeasurable, infinite, all powerful, indescribable….

For the LORD your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality and accepts no bribes – Deuteronomy 10:17 NIV

For the LORD your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God. -Deuteronomy 4:24 NIV

God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill? – Numbers 23:19 NIV

For the LORD your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory – Deuteronomy 20:4 NIV

For the LORD your God is a merciful God; he will not abandon or destroy you or forget the covenant with your forefathers, which he confirmed to them by oath – Deuteronomy 4:31 NIV

And the heavens proclaim his righteusness, for God himself is judge – Psalms 50:6 NIV

For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless. O LORD Almighty, blessed is the man who trusts in you. – Psalms 84:11-12 NIV

The LORD is gracious and righteous; our God is full of compassion. – Psalms 116:5 NIV

‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’ ? He is not the God of the dead but of the living.” – Matthew 22:32 NIV

God is Spirit, and His worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.”- John 4:24 NIV

Is there Hell? – Billy Graham Crusade Sermon

Watch this powerful preaching of the late Reverend Billy Graham about Hell. So many people nowadays are no longer afraid of going to hell for eternity! Some preachers even deny that there is a hell waiting for wicked people. People has become blind and can no longer discern truth and false hope.

Watch Billy Graham – Is There Hell?

“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne. Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. And he will place the sheep on his right, but the goats on the left. Then the King will say to those on his right, “Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.” . . . Then he will say to those on his left, “Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. . . .  And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.” Matthew 25:31-46

I am the Light of the World

Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, “I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.” John 8:12 NASB
I am the Light of the World John 8 v 12

Adam Clarke Commentary on John 8:12 Adam Clarke Bible Commentary Published 1810-1826

I am the light of the world – The fountain whence an intellectual light and spiritual understanding proceed: without me all is darkness, misery, and death. The Divine Being was, by the rabbins denominated, The light of the world. So in Bamidbar Rabba: “The Israelites said to God, O Lord of the universe, thou commandest us to light lamps to thee, yet thou art The Light of The World: and with thee the light dwelleth.” Our Lord, therefore, assumes here a well known character of the Supreme Being; and with this we find the Jews were greatly offended.

Shall not walk in darkness – He shall be saved from ignorance, infidelity, and sin. If he follow me, become my disciple, and believe on my name, he shall have my Spirit to bear witness with his, that he is a child of God. He shall have the light of life – such a light as brings and supports life. The sun, the fountain of light, is also the fountain of life: by his vivifying influences, all things live – neither animal nor vegetative life could exist, were it not for his influence. Jesus, the Sun of righteousness, Mal_4:2, is the fountain of all spiritual and eternal Life. His light brings life with it, and they who walk in his light live in his life. This sentiment is beautifully expressed and illustrated in the following inimitable verse (all monosyllables except one word) of that second Spenser, Phineas Fletcher. Speaking of the conversion of a soul to God, he says: –

“New Light new Love, new Love new Life hath bred;
A Life that lives by Love, and loves by Light:
A Love to him, to whom all Loves are wed;
A Light, to whom the sun is darkest night:
Eye’s Light, heart’s Love, soul’s only Life he is:
Life, soul, love, heart, Light, eye, and all are his:
He eye, Light, heart, Love, soul; He all my joy and bliss.”
Purple Island, Can. I. v. 7.

Christian Devotional: I am the Bread of Life

“I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will not be hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.” – Jesus Christ
John 6:36
I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will not be hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty

How is Christ’ bread? We understand what the bodily needs are which common bread satisfies. What in the soul corresponds to these cravings? The most intense of the soul-cravings is for pardon. All men sin, but sin satisfies no one. Nor has the world any power to give peace to a troubled conscience. We cannot forgive ourselves, and no man can really forgive us. How is Christ bread to this hunger? He was the Lamb of God, taking away the sin of the world; and because He bore our sins He is able to forgive us. We remember how on earth the guilty crept to His feet when they saw Him, and looking up into His face heard the word which gave them peace.

Another craving is for holiness. The world has no art by which human souls can be restored into moral beauty. Men can restore paintings, and buildings over which the fire has swept, and they can be erected again into more than their original nobleness; but there is no human hand that can replace the glory of a ruined soul. Yet this craving Christ satisfies through the Holy Spirit, who enters the heart of every one who believes, and builds up anew the holy beauty which sin has destroyed.

Another of the soul’s cravings is for life, spiritual life here, and then everlasting life. Again, earth has no bread to meet the hunger. The searches for hope are among the most pitiable of this world’s experiences. But those who receive Christ have eternal life. He has opened the doors clear through into the glory beyond. He said, “Whosoever liveth and believeth on me shall never die.” He is the hope of glory to every one that receives Him. Said a martyr as he was led to execution: “I have only two stiles to get over to reach my Father’s house – one, the steps up the scaffold; the other, the ladder let down from heaven.”

Do Not Let Your Heart Be Troubled

Do Not Let Your Heart Be Troubled …

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4 You know the way to the place where I am going.” – John 14:1-14

do not let your heart be troubled John 14
While we are waiting for Christ, we thank the Holy Spirit who is our helper, comforter, and teacher. This thoughts from Billy Graham tell us more about the Holy Spirit: “The moment that we receive Christ as Savior, the Holy Spirit comes to live in our heart. Our Body becomes the temple of the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Spirit helps us live the Christian life. There is not a person anywhere who can be a Christian without the Holy Spirit. There is not a person who can follow Christ without the help of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit sees everything that goes on. He knows what goes on in our hearts. He knows what goes on in our minds. Nothing is hidden from Him.”
