About Guy Penrod

Guy Allen Penrod is a gospel music singer. He is known for his work as the lead singer of the Gaither Vocal Band, a position he held from 1994 to 2008. He was born on July 2, 1963 in Abilene, Texas, and was raised in Hobbs, New Mexico, where his father was the pastor of Temple Baptist Church. He graduated from Liberty University. He and his wife, Angie Clark, have 7 boys and 1 girl. They reside on a farm in Tennessee. Guy Penrod left Gaither Vocal Band to go solo in 2009, the same year that his debut solo album, Breathe Deep, appeared. He has been highly rewarded with several awards like several Grammy Awards and a Dove Award.

“The Gaither Vocal Band is an American southern gospel vocal group, named after its founder and leader Bill Gaither. Founded in the early ’80s, Gaither Vocal Band is one of America’s leading faith-based vocal groups.
